The different types of permits
The residence permit that you will receive depends mainly on your country of origin (EU/EFTA or non-member state), the reason for your entry into the country, and the conditions behind your entry (for example, the duration of your work contract, permits and nationality of your partner in the case of marriage, or family reunification).
In Switzerland, there are six different residence permits: L, B, C, N, F and G.
